Guide to Selling
Auction Appraisals
Chorley’s is pleased to offer verbal valuations of items for possible inclusion in our sales, either by appointment at our saleroom, visit to your house, or through e-mailed images. There is no charge for this service.
Vendor’s Commission Rates
For each Lot sold for £3000 and under 15% of the hammer price
For each Lot sold for £3001 and over 10% of the hammer price
Loss and Damage Warranty
1.5% of the hammer price of sold lots
Illustration Charges
Catalogue illustrations (optional) £20 per illustration
Website illustrations and online bidding listing £5 per Lot
All sales are fully illustrated on our website and other international auction sites, including www.the-saleroom.com where bidders can register to bid live over the internet..
Unsold and Withdrawn Lots
There are usually no charges for unsold Lots. Lots withdrawn after cataloguing, or unsold after the imposition of a reserve higher than we recommend, may be subject to a fee of 5% of the lower estimate.
Carriage charges
We can provide, without liability, details of carriers to assist with the transportation of Lots to the saleroom if required. The costs incurred will usually be deducted from the sale proceeds, unless we are otherwise instructed. See our Shipping section for contact details.
VAT
All charges are subject to Value Added Tax at the current rate on the day of sale.
