After completing a degree in History and Classical Studies, I began working for Phillips Fine Art Auctioneers in Bond Street in 1987. I spent my initial year as an Auctioneer’s Clerk in the General Office, learning about the behind-the-scenes activities of the auction house. I also worked as a Porter to the Blenstock Auction Room at Phillips, which specialized in Decorative Arts, Music, Ethnographica and Arms & Armour and was honoured to be the youngest (and only female!) to be made Head Porter.
My experience has also included work for Waterstones, in the Antiques and Interior Design departments, as well as with the Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum, specializing in the Applied Arts Department where I catalogued the work of Alex Miller, Chipping Campden craftsmen etc
Since joining Chorley’s, I manage the production of inventories and valuations for insurance, sale and inheritance tax purposes, and act as Auctioneer’s Clerk on sale days.
