Catrin Hampton

After completing a degree in English Literature at the University of Birmingham, I worked initially for a publishing company, writing and proofreading articles prior to printing. A change in direction was brought about with the opportunity of joining Christie's regional office in Cheltenham, which allowed an interest in art and antiques to develop into a career. By transferring four years later to Christie's head office at King Street in London, I was able to get involved with the auction business at first hand, researching and cataloguing items for sale, proofreading and designing catalogues and telephone bidding at the sales, firstly for the Silver department and then 20th Century Decorative Arts.

In 2001, I moved to the South West and joined the Art & Antiques team at Bruton Knowles as a Valuer and Cataloguer.

I transferred along with the rest of the team to Chorley's new saleroom at Prinknash in 2006 and have undertaken a wide variety of work, from cataloguing antique woodworking tools at the Shambles Museum (May 2009) to co-ordinating the publicity and sale of The Orpheus Pavement (June 2010).
