Being the fifth generation involved in Art & Antiques trade, I am very happy indeed to have joined the Simon Chorley Art & Antiques team in April, 2006 . I look forward to carrying on the family tradition in such a new and vibrant incarnation of the long established firm of Bruton Knowles Art & Antiques.
After finishing a degree in history and classical studies, I began working for Phillips Fine Art Auctioneers in Bond Street in 1987. I spent my initial year as an Auctioneers Clerk in the General Office, learning basic background and the behind the scenes world of the auction house. I also worked as a porter to the Blenstock Auction Room at Phillips, which specialised in Decorative Arts, Music Ethnographica and Arms & Armour and was honoured to be the youngest (and only female!) to be made Head Porter.
My experience has also included work for Waterstones, in the Antiques and Interior Design departments; as well as with the Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum specialising in the Applied Arts Department, cataloguing the work of Alex Miller, Chipping Campden etc.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my children, furnishing my new home, dreaming of owning a pre-Raphaelite painting, making chocolates and flying to Canada to sip cocktails on my brothers 1930s classic yacht off Vancouver Island!
