I was born in 1978 and brought up near Berkeley in Gloucestershire. After studying History of Art with English at St Andrews University from 1996-2000 I attended the three-month Christies internship in New York. I then joined Bonhams in London starting as a porter at their weekly furniture sales, before moving to the furniture department and cataloguing.
In 2003, the opportunity arose to train as a general Valuer in their Honiton office in Devon. I enjoyed this position which was continually varied, surprising and fulfilling.
From there I joined Christies, working as one of their South West regional reps but decided to leave and take a late gap year travelling with three friends through Malawi, Zambia and Botswana in a Land Rover. We were lucky enough to see lion, leopard and a massive quantity of other game, some at frighteningly close quarters!
Over the years, in addition to my saleroom experience, I have had the chance to browse many of the salerooms in the south-west and in London as a buyer. From what I have seen I am convinced there has never been a better time to be a regional auctioneer. I am very pleased to be joining such an experienced and driven team and am looking forward to being part of its success.
