15 December 2011 auction:
Chorley's have had some stunning results for silver throughout 2011 and the December sale was no exception. Lot 265 an impressive George II flagon with domed cover and S scroll handle saw £4000 while a Charles II armorial dish dating from 1677 served up a section topping £4800. Combined with some outstanding prices for stamp collections, paintings and tapestries, the December sale was an exciting end to the year. Click here to read the full post-sale report. |

11-12 November 2011 auction:
For many the highlight of Chorley's two-day sale on 11th & 12th November was the collection of shagreen cased items, primarily necessaires and etuis. This fantastic private collection is exactly the type that would once have been sold in London but which firms like Chorley’s now excel at handling. This part of the auction totalled just over £80,000 hammer with a number of highlights including £6,600 for Lot 328, a George III chest etui, which was complete with over thirty items including inkwells, scent bottles, and brushes.
